When Michael moves back home to care for his father, he does not realize how much he has to learn. Not only does he have to contend with the unpredictable disease called Alzheimer's, he also has to deal with the many lessons life is determined to make him learn.

Will the fragile relationship between Michael and his father be mended or will their efforts be forever in vain?

Fortunately, Michael has a few people to support him. The first is Ms. Hollinger, an elderly lady on his mail route. Though she seems to have her own sadness, she is always ready to cheer him up with a game of checkers or a pitcher of lemonade.

The second person who is there for Michael is his ex-wife, who is in town visiting her parents. He has dreamed of this reunion for so long; he never stopped loving her. But will he be able to conquer pride and bitterness in time to prove to her that he has changed?

On his intense journey, Michael learns to truly live, to selflessly love, and to honestly forgive not only others but himself as well.
